Negative emotions are draining to say the least.
Sometimes they are hard to stray away from... here we have 5 simple steps to help you begin your journey towards leaving those negative emotions, feelings, and thoughts behind by finally facing and understanding them and yourself.
Now let's start in turning that frown, upside down!
1- Don't Run, Rather Face Your Emotions. They aren't going anywhere just yet! Face what you're feeling. Ignoring it does not solve the issue, nor is it good for us. We should try our best to understand ourselves and understand what we are feeling and where the feelings are coming from. Acknowledge yourself and your feelings for what they are, because after all, they ARE there.
2- Accept Your Feelings. They are yours. You are justified for all of your feelings, remember that. Embrace your feeling and let it out. It needs to be recognized, not suppressed!
3- Feelings Are Impermanent. Our feelings change constantly! They aren't here to stay forever. Help mend them by following these steps and understanding they are not permanently with you.
4- Investigate Your Thoughts & Emotions. We can help these emotions change for the better by finding out why exactly we are having them. Be calm and ask yourself: "What may be causing this feeling I'm experiencing?" Is it your thoughts for the present of future, a recent event, a reoccurring issue, a disagreement?
5- Respond & Act. "But how?" The first thing to keep in mind is that there is no direct or correct answer for YOUR response. Everyone will respond with what they believe is best. Trust yourself enough to also trust your response. Listen to your feelings and go with them. Put together your thoughts and figure out how to react to your feelings. Ask yourself: "Is there something I can change, do, or simplify?" Choose your response and take action.
