Curious About Cupping Therapy?

Cupping Done Right.

What is Cupping Therapy Treatment?

Cupping Treatment is a form of Alternative Medicine dating back to the first use of Ancient Chinese Medicine. During this treatment, an instrument will be used to suction on to the skin. The suction is created when a flame is brought to the inside of the cup (before being placed on the skin) and all oxygen is eliminated OR when a pump is used to rid the oxygen within the cup while it is on the skin. In most cases a glass cup will be used (as shown in the picture above), but bamboo or mechanical devices can be used as well. The cups are not hot when they touch the skin. The cups are left on the body for 5 to 10 minutes (depending on treatment) and may occasionally be moved around when oil or medicated cream is added to the area of the body.

What does Cupping Therapy do?

Cupping Therapy helps to open up and relax muscle fibers. This is achieved through the strong suction of the cups. It is also known to open up the pores of the skin and stimulate blood flow. Cupping is used to alleviate toxins within the body as well.

What is Cupping Therapy typically used for?

Cupping can be used for respiratory conditions such as the common cold, asthma, bronchitis, and congestion. It is also used to alleviated certain types of pain, relieve stress, and treat depression.

Patients commonly combine Cupping with their Massage Therapy and Acupuncture.
Many of our patients rave that Cupping is "very relaxing" and "truly pulls their muscles the right way."
