Be Well Must Haves
Have you ever heard of dry brushing your skin before? If you haven't, keep reading and try it out today! It is simple, relaxing, and beneficial to our skin!
What you'll need: a Dry Brush (Can be found at usually any convenience store - definitely Walmart, Target, TjMaxx, Bed Bath and Beyond, or online! They start as cheap at $5.00 - but make sure to get a dry brush with all natural tip fibers that is NOT synthetic.)
What you'll do: Not too vigorously, but with just enough pressure, brush your skin towards the heart and in the direction of your blood flow. Starting from your feet is a great plan. Brush upward from the foot, to the calve, to the thigh, and so on in a circular motion. You can do straight lines with the circular as well. Do this all over the body, your arms, back, neck, chest, stomach, etc. When you are all done, take a refreshing shower and help rid the dead skin and re-hydrate!
What it will do for you: This unique system helps unclog pores, detox your skin of toxins it holds on to, get your blood flow going, and rid dead skin.

Get out in that sunshine!
Research from the University of Edinburgh found that people exposed to UV rays had a significant drop in blood pressure. This is because sunlight holds the power to actually aid in dilating the blood vessels.
Sooo... get out in the sun today and relax. Don't forget the sunscreen.
Take a trip to the Zoo!
Did you know that watching animals can actually lower stress-induced adrenaline and blood pressure?! Research in Japan found that simply observing animals affects our parasympathetic nervous system. It helps to waken this part of our nervous system and relieves stress AND lowers blood pressure!
Take your loved one, family member, or the kids the the Bronx Zoo this weekend!!!
Hug your loved one.
We all have a "bonding hormone" called oxytocin that helps us retain a calm feeling. This may also relax activity within your heart and your blood pressure!
Idea? Take 30 minutes out of every day to give a back or foot massage to your loved one and hug them! Cuddle and watch a show! Get close!!!
This helps us make social connections and feel good about ourselves. Research from Carnegie Mellon University found that those who volunteer 4 or more hours a week were a whopping 40% less likely to develop high blood pressure.
That's crazy! Lesson to be learned? -Give back to your community and be heart & blood pressure healthy today by deciding to volunteer at a local business or asking program!!!
